Batspad / En Route: Bespoke eBike with X20 System
Batspad / En Route by CYFAC & NoDesign redefines what a bespoke eBike can be. Conceived as the first fully integrated, made‑to‑measure electric bicycle, it combines French artisanal frame building with the discreet performance of the MAHLE X20 System. The result is an all‑road eBike designed so that riding with friends, regardless of speed or distance, remains natural and enjoyable.
Each Batspad / En Route is produced as a unique piece, shaped by the rider’s morphology, riding habits and lifestyle. From the initial dialogue with CYFAC’s design studio to final delivery, the process takes around six months and involves meticulous manual work, from brazing the steel frame to final paint finishes.
Performance, Elegance and Long‑Distance Comfort
At the heart of Batspad / En Route is the MAHLE X20 rear hub motor, delivering up to 65 Nm of torque with proportional assistance based on rider input. Thanks to the torque sensor in the bottom bracket, power delivery remains smooth and intuitive, preserving the feel of a classic bicycle while extending riding capability.
The chromoly steel frame provides natural damping and long‑distance comfort, making it ideal for pain‑free rides over varying terrain. The elegant, timeless lines underline its dual character: a luxury object designed to be ridden, not displayed.
Integrated Power with Expandable Range
The system is powered by a 236 Wh MAHLE internal battery, seamlessly integrated into the frame. On longer rides, autonomy can be extended with the MAHLE eX1 External Battery, adding up to 60 km of additional range. This modular approach allows riders to adapt the bike to daily use or extended all‑road adventures without compromising aesthetics or handling.
Crucially, the MAHLE X20 System disengages mechanically above 25 km/h, eliminating unwanted resistance and ensuring the bike rides like a traditional high‑performance bicycle when assistance is no longer required.
Handcrafted in France, Engineered for Versatility
Batspad / En Route is designed by NoDesign and CYFAC and manufactured, painted and assembled in Tours, France. The frame blends chromoly steel tubing with 3D‑printed stainless steel components, allowing precise integration of brakes, transmission and electric assistance.
A French‑made carbon fork, developed specifically for all‑road and gravel use, completes the setup. Tyre clearance from 35 to 50 mm enables configurations ranging from refined all‑road to light gravel or modern hiking. Depending on equipment choices, total bike weight with motor and battery is approximately 13.4 kg.
A Bike for Life
Beyond performance, Batspad / En Route is designed for longevity. Steel construction, easy maintenance and the option to remove the electric‑assist system extend the bike’s lifecycle well beyond typical eBike standards. With the motor removed, it becomes a high‑performance analogue bicycle, retaining all the advantages of steel without technological obsolescence.
Batspad / En Route is not defined by trends or categories. It is a long‑term riding companion where bespoke craftsmanship and the MAHLE X20 System come together to create a refined, durable and truly personal riding experience.
