Salsa Cycles moves eGravel forward with the MAHLE X30 System

Salsa Cycles has unveiled the new generation of its Confluence, an eGravel bike designed for riders who want to extend their routes, explore side paths, and carry gear without giving up a natural pedalling feel. The headline update is the MAHLE X30 System, a key improvement that reinforces the bike’s lightweight, discreet, and versatile character.

With this evolution, Salsa opts for an assistance System that boosts performance without changing the essence of gravel: clean lines, stable geometry, and ride characteristics built for long days on tracks and secondary roads.

MAHLE X30: more performance, less weight

At the heart of the new Confluence is the MAHLE X30 System, engineered to balance power, efficiency, and low weight. Its rear hub-drive motor weighs just 1.9 kg and delivers 45 Nm of torque, an increase of 5 Nm over the previous generation.

This combination provides smoother, more progressive, and natural assistance, especially noticeable at higher speeds within legal limits. The result is a riding experience that feels even closer to a conventional bicycle, with the support needed to take on longer routes, steeper climbs, or back-to-back adventure days.

In addition, X30 sits within the MAHLE X Series ecosystem, ensuring compatibility with existing components and digital services. That continuity benefits both brands and riders seeking flexibility and long-term tech consistency.

Range tailored to every adventure

The MAHLE X30 System allows you to adapt range to the demands of each ride. Confluence can be specified with iX2 or iX3 main batteries and is compatible with the eX1 External Battery, which adds a further 171 Wh.

This modular approach lets riders choose a lighter setup for shorter outings or expand energy capacity when the route requires it—whether for long gravel days, bikepacking, or multi-day escapes.

New Confluence Carbon 2.0 fork

The model update goes beyond the assistance System. The latest Confluence introduces the Confluence Carbon 2.0 fork, designed to blend functionality and comfort with minimal weight.

The fork integrates cargo and mudguard mounts to make carrying kit or commuting in changing conditions easier, and it delivers a more compliant ride over long distances. The frameset is also compatible with 40 mm gravel suspension forks, broadening setup options to suit terrain and riding style.

Built for long routes and real cargo

A defining feature of the Salsa Confluence is its clear adventure focus. The frame includes multiple mounts for racks, bottles, and bags, both within the main triangle and on the fork, so you can carry water, equipment, or camping gear.

Combined with the light, efficient assistance of the MAHLE X30 System, this cargo capability makes the Confluence an ideal companion for full-day rides, off-the-beaten-path exploration, and multi-day trips without relying solely on tarmac.

Same spirit, greater capability

Despite all the upgrades, the new Confluence retains what made the original a reference point in eGravel: comfortable, stable geometry; predictable handling with load; and a discreet design that hides the electric tech in plain sight.

Integrating the MAHLE X30 System strengthens this approach, adding performance and versatility without compromising aesthetics or ride feel.
