X20 System Upgrade: 65 Nm and 275 W Peak Now Available
MAHLE SmartBike Systems’ X20 System steps up performance. From today, riders with the X20 System can upgrade their eBike to unlock 65 Nm torque and 275 W peak power, keeping the same natural feel and ultra‑light integration they value.
What’s new?
65 Nm torque (+18% increase)*
Sharper take‑offs and easier climbing. The added torque improves responsiveness, delivering support exactly when you need it.
*compared to a 65 Nm mid‑drive.
275 W peak power (+10% increase)
More sustained power delivery across a wider cadence range. With this increase, X20 provides more dynamic assistance on flats and steep climbs without compromising weight or integration.
Full UDH compatibility (new generation drive units)
The latest X20 drive unit is fully compatible with the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard, enabling improved shifting, better drivetrain protection, and simpler maintenance.
Important: UDH compatibility applies to new eBikes with the latest drive units; existing bikes receive the torque and power increases via firmware.

It varies by current firmware version and connection quality. Allow sufficient time and do not interrupt the process.
Do I need to visit a dealer?
Only if the app requests a prerequisite update with the X Active Charger.
Does range change?
Energy management remains efficient, but real‑world range depends on mode, terrain, and riding style.
Do I need the External Battery eX1 to update?
No. Ensure the main battery is charged. If you use an External Battery, keep it sufficiently charged and connected if present.
Is UDH delivered by firmware?

What if the update fails?
Check battery, connectivity, and try again. If issues persist, contact support or visit a dealer.
